Prince of Peace

A Mission of the Progressive Christian Alliance

The Progressive Church where ALL are welcome

Prince of Peace Scools is a church school in Alabama offering
a family-based educational program for grades K-12.
(Alabama Code Section 16-28-1)

 Curriculum

We believe it is the fundamental right of the parent to decide what educational program is right for their child.  We encourage free thinking and creativity in our teachers and students.  We do not require you to submit your plans or curriculum for our approval, it is your choice and your responsibility to decide what is best for you and your child. However, we will be glad to consult with you regarding your curriculum choices.

Attendance Policy

Prince of Peace operates on a year round calendar. We request that you log at least 170 “educational days” during our school year. (August 1 – July 31). In keeping with Alabama law you will need to report to me any absence of more than half of an educational day. Therefore if you feel that you have gone half of a day in which your child learned absolutely nothing, please feel to report it to me. Your holidays, classroom hours and days of operation are at your discretion.  i.e.… if you choose to study fractions by making cookies at 7:45pm on Sunday then we encourage and applaud you in your efforts. Your child has learned something and had fun in the process and we consider it an “educational day”.  You must submit an attendance report to me by July 1st stating how many days your children attended school.  Please list your name and the names of your children. An email will be sufficient. (We must keep an attendance register at the school office)

Grades

We will keep a file for each family, if you wish you may submit grades and any information you deem important to your child’s educational record. This will be used to make transcripts when your child graduates or if you choose to return to the public school system.  Prince of Peace will issue your child a diploma upon completion of your high school curriculum. Child must have reached 16th birthday. If your child will be attending a college we will work out a transcript using the information that you provide, so having a decent record keeping system will be of help to our administrators and your family.

Testing

Prince of Peace Family Academy does not endorse standardized testing as a way to evaluate your child’s progress or your educational plan.  If you wish to subject your child to endless rounds of “fill in the bubble” we can direct you to a place where you can purchase the tests.  We do not require them nor do we support them.

We do not require a statement of Faith.  We trust that your family will certainly pass along your own values and religious preferences to your child.
